01 / The idea
One interface for a self-hosted library.
I built UmrFlix to make a self-hosted Jellyfin setup easier to explore and manage. Instead of moving between discovery, requests, and playback tools, it brings that journey into one streaming-style interface while the media and services stay under the owner’s control.
02 / Requests & management
From discovery to an approved request.
Viewers sign in with existing Jellyfin accounts, keep personal lists, and request missing movies or series. Admins review requests before approved titles go to Radarr or Sonarr, while users can follow request status and download progress. The admin dashboard also brings pending requests, active downloads, Jellyfin sessions, and storage into one place.
03 / Playback & watch parties
A custom player made for watching together.
The custom player supports direct or HLS playback, adaptive quality, audio and subtitle controls, saved progress, skip-segment prompts, and next-episode playback. Mobile gestures add quick seeking and speed controls. Watch Parties synchronize playback and handle buffering so people can watch together.
04 / The result
Discover, request, manage, and watch in one place.
TMDB-backed discovery and personalized recommendations help viewers find something new; one connected flow handles the rest. UmrFlix makes a self-hosted library easier for multiple users to use without providing media itself.
Built with intention.
Thanks for reading.
